Every child is different and not every kid is going to develop at the same rate. On the other hand, there are some general milestones that you should expect around given timeframes.
Some general benchmarks to note include:
Babies should be able to differentiate familiar faces from strangers at around six months of age
By 12 months of age, babies should become more interactive and participate in simple games of peekaboo
Toddlers are more likely to play games and use imaginative play with others by 2 years of age
Kids in elementary school become aware of the perceptions of others, share jokes with their friends, and start to develop their own identities
Middle schoolers start to think logically and value the opinions of others more
High schoolers strive to develop Independence and socially distance themselves from caregivers
